Bongbong Marcos Confirms DOJ To Assess Consequence of Duterte’s Statements

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Says PNP, DOJ To Take Actions on Duterte Drug War

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President confirmed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will assess the consequence of the statements of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Recently, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte appeared at the House Quad Committee hearing over his administration’s war on drugs for the first time. Prior to it, he skipped several hearings due to different reasons.

In one instance, Duterte was allegedly not feeling well so he was not able to attend the inquiry. In another case, the lawyer of the former President admitted that he has “doubts” on the integrity and the independence of the House Quad Comm.

Former Pres. Duterte also claimed that going to Metro Manila for the hearing will be costly for him and he is already dependent on his retirement pay. Duterte stressed that the House members do not scare him a bit in response to a House Quad Comm member’s question.

Just like at the Senate hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has several admissions and revelations at the House Quad Comm hearing. He even answered in the affirmative when asked about taking “full legal and moral responsibility” for the drug war of his administration.

“I have tried to do the best I can to address the problem of illegal drugs firmly and without compromise. That’s all I want to leave here before I leave — before I leave this world. For all of its successes and mistakes — it was not a perfect one. There were many mistakes. Maybe there were a lot of crimes,” the former President said.

Duterte stressed that he was only doing his responsibility as president of the Philippines. At the Senate hearing, the former President claimed that a drug den was allegedly raided inside Malacañang. Pres. Bongbong Marcos was previously mum on the claims of Duterte at the Senate hearing.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on the remarks of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte during the Senate and House Quad Comm hearings. Based on a report on GMA News, he assured that the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are already investigating the deaths linked to the Duterte drug war.

According to Marcos Jr., they are just waiting for the findings of the investigation of the PNP. He stressed that all the testimonies given will be taken in. Based on the report, the President also assured that the DOJ will check into the statements of the former President.

“It will be assessed to see what is consequence of some of the statements made by former President Duterte that will result in a case being filed here. That is the responsibility of the Department of Justice,” the President said.

At the House Quad Comm hearing, former Pres. Duterte was caught on camera making a gesture as if he wants to hit former Senator Leila de Lima. She did not see it during the hearing but she was informed by some friends after it.
