Former Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Importance of Prayers amid Natural Calamities
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President called on the Filipinos to unite and pray amid the storms in the Philippines.
The Philippines is one of the countries that is usually hit by natural calamities. In a year, there are usually several storms that visit the country. There are those that only brought rain but did not caused damaged to properties and loss of lives while there are those that left many areas of the country devastated and many lives lost.
This year, severe tropical storm Kristine left several areas in the country deeply flooded. The Bicol region is one of those that is greatly affected by the tropical storm. Former Vice President Leni Robredo even called for pumpboats as many residents of Naga were stuck in their roof amid the deep flooding.
After severe tropical storm Kristine left several areas in the Philippines devastated and took many lives, the country was hit by typhoon Leon and Marce. They were followed by tropical cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos called on the Filipinos to unite and pray amid the Philippines being hit by storms.
Based on a report on GMA News, in his speech during the 49th Philippine National Prayer Breakfast or PNPB at Malacañang, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that “our collective faith and prayer to the Almighty is the most powerful tool that we have to weather these storms and the destruction that they bring”.
Marcos Jr. said the vision of the PNPB is to unite the Filipinos in the spirit of Christ shaping lives based on the will of God and working together “to bring about the realization of God’s reign in the Philippines”. Furthermore, the Chief Executive stressed that the world and the Philippines are divided in terms of politics, beliefs, as well as cultural differences.
“These often make us forget our humanity, that we are one in our shared goal: to serve our fellow Filipinos, to help the Philippines flourish,” the President said.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos Jr. also urged the leaders to commit again to service with faith and prayerful discernment. He called on the Filipinos to renew our pledge to look for Divine wisdom and build bridges where there are divisions.
