Pres. Bongbong Marcos Releases Statement on Bonifacio Day
BONGBONG MARCOS – On Bonifacio Day, the President called on the Filipinos to do their part in liberating the country from the ills of the society.
One of the regular holidays in the Philippines is the Bonifacio Day which is celebrated today. The Filipinos commemorate the birth anniversary of one of the Philippine heroes, Gat Andres Bonifacio. He is the leader of the Katipunan and is known as The Father of the Philippine Revolution.
Gat Andres Bonifacio was born in Tondo on November 30, 1863. He founded the Katipunan which was a militant nationalist secret society that led the revolution against the Spanish colonizers. He was the the Supremo of the Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or more popularly known as the KKK.
November 30 is a regular holiday in the Philippines. Classes in schools and work in both private and public sectors are cancelled today in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio. Every year, the seating president releases a message to the Filipino people on the celebration of the Bonifacio Day.
For this year, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, in his message to the Filipinos, recalled that Gat Andres Bonifacio came from humble beginnings but his situation did not stop him from realizing his dreams. The President cited the big contribution of Bonifacio as he lit the flames of the Philippine revolution that set the country free.
Marcos Jr. encouraged the Filipinos to remember the huge sacrifice that Bonifacio and the people who died fighting for the country have shown. According to the Chief Executive, Gat Andres may have long been gone but his fight is inside every Filipino.
“Let us honor his memory by finding a deeper meaning in his sacrifice and doing our part in liberating our country from the shackles of hunger, corruption, criminality, and other ills of society,” Marcos write.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also encouraged the Filipinos to “build a better Bagong Pilipinas” with patriotism, discipline, and love for each other. He described the Bagong Pilipinas as a place where every Filipino lives in genuine peace, harmony, and progress. Here’s the message of the President:
