Palace Announces Message of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for Government Agencies
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President is calling on the government offices to avoid big Christmas celebrations after PH was hit by storms leaving many Filipinos in unfortunate situations.
The Philippines is one of the countries that is usually hit by storms. This year, several typhoons entered the country and brought heavy rains and strong winds that caused flooding in many areas. Several regions are currently under a state of calamity.
Last month, severe tropical storm Kristine hit the Philippines. It brought strong winds and heavy rains that triggered deep flooding in many areas including the Bicol region. Seventy-eight cities and municipalities in the region are currently under a state of calamity.
In Calabarzon, 63 cities were left under a state of calamity due to severe tropical storm Kristine and 13 areas in Eastern Visayas are under the same declaration. After severe tropical storm Kristine, typhoons Leon and Marce also hit the Philippines.
Typhoons Nika, Ofel, and Pepito also hit the Philippines with the most-recent typhoon leaving severe damages in several areas in the country most especially in Catanduanes. As many Filipinos are in unfortunate situations now, Pres. Bongbong Marcos made a call on the government agencies.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos called on the government agencies to avoid lavish Christmas celebrations in solidarity with the victims of the recent typhoons in the Philippines. Based on a report on GMA News, it was Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin who announced the call of the Chief Executive to government offices.
“Alinsunod sa panawagan ng ating Pangulo, hinihikayat namin ang lahat ng ahensya ng pamahalaan na iwasan ang mga marangyang pagdiriwang ngayong Pasko,” Bersamin said.
According to the Executive Secretary, there is no need for the President to issue an order as they believe in the kindness of the government workers. Based on the report, aside from the call of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on the government agencies to “adopt austerity in their celebrations”, Malacañang also urged the government offices to donate to the typhoon victims whatever savings they have from avoiding big Christmas celebrations.
“On the part of the government, we will make sure that the Christmas spirit will be felt early by all the affected areas in the form of relief goods and assistance, of infrastructure rebuilt, and of livelihoods restored,” the Executive Secretary said.
Previously, Pres. Marcos also called on the Filipinos to unite and pray amid the storms in the Philippines.
