SARA DUTERTE’S RATINGS – Pulse Asia survey results showed the ratings of the Vice President dipping amid the budget hearing issues.
Undeniably, in the Philippines, one of the government official who is speculated and pushed to run for the presidency in the 2028 Elections is Vice Pres. Duterte. She is also the frontrunner of some potential presidential bets based on VP Sara Duterte’s ratings in the survey.
Duterte has yet to speak on whether or not she is running for the presidency in the next national election. Previously, following her visit to former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo in Naga, there are also a lot of questions on the possibility of a Duterte-Robredo tandem..image
However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that she is not ready for any political alliance now. According to her, she is focusing in fixing the issues in the Office of the Vice President and protecting the OVP.
Duterte was recently involved in several issues related to the deliberation of the budget proposal of the OVP in the House of Representatives. Her office is asking for a P2 billion budget for 2025. However, her absence in the hearings set by the lower chamber led the House members to decide on a lower budget for Duterte’s office.
The lower chamber of the Congress decided to cut the 2025 budget for Vice Pres. Duterte’s office by P1.2 billion — giving the OVP a P733 million budget for next year. It came after the Vice President was involved in a spar with the Senate and House members as well as a series of House hearing absences.
In one House hearing, Duterte also refused to take an oath regarding the budget use of the Office of the Vice President. She also skipped at least two (2) hearings set by the lower chamber including the resumption of the deliberation of the 2025 budget proposal of the OVP. It left several House members greatly disappointed.
Following the issues with the House of Representatives, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s ratings declined based on the survey results derived by Pulse Asia. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the approval rating of the Vice President dropped from 69 in June to 60 in September.
Furthermore, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s ratings on public trust also slipped from 71% in June to 61% in September. Based on the report, the survey was conducted from September 6 to September 13 or amid the congressional hearings regarding the 2025 OVP budget proposal.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Pulse Asia President Ronald Holmes said that the drop in Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s ratings is “statistically significant”. Meanwhile, majority of the Filipinos still approve and trust the performance of the Vice President.
