Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Speaks on Mayoral Bid in 2025
ISKO MORENO – The actor-politician claimed that Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña refused his attempt for a mayoral comeback.
In the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections, one of the politicians who is seeking a comeback in a previous post is former Manila Mayor Moreno who filed for a mayoral bid. He was away from politics for more than a year since the 2022 Elections when he ran for president.
Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ran for the presidency in 2022 with Doc Willie Ong as his running-mate. Both Moreno and Ong lost in the 2022 Elections as they placed 4th in their respective electoral races.
Isko and Doc Willie recently met in Singapore where the latter is having his treatment against cancer. He was diagnosed with sarcoma and he is undergoing chemotherapy. He has filed his Certifiate of Candidacy for senator in the 2025 Elections through his wife, Dra. Liza Ramoso-Ong.
Recently, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also talked about his decision to attempt a comeback as mayor in the city. Based on a report on GMA News’ Balitambayan, the actor-politician claimed that he personally went to now Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña.
According to Moreno, he asked Lacuña if he can comeback as mayor in the city but she allegedly answered in the negative. The Manila Mayor allegedly told him that she is seeking re-election.
“I respectfully asked Ate Honey, ‘Ate, puwede ako bumalik sa pagka-Mayor? And swiftly, she answered no, I’m running for re-election’,” the former Manila Mayor said.
Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno stressed that it is Lacuna’s right to seek re-election. According to him, what he did was kissed her and bid goodbye as well as hug her husband, Doc Pox. He stressed that he loves them and he’s always grateful to Honey’s father, Danny Lacuña.
However, based on the report, while Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña confirmed that Isko Moreno visited her, she said that she did not say anything upon hearing that he will run for mayor. According to her, she just listened to him.
“The last time we spoke to each other was I think, July 12, Sabi ho niya tatakbo po siya. Wala po akong sinabi, pinakinggan ko lang siya. That’s face to face,” the Manila Mayor said.
Based on the report, aside from Moreno and Lacuña, Tutok To Win Party-list Representative Sam Verzosa also filed his candidacy for mayor in Manila. He is the boyfriend of actress Rhian Ramos. He stressed that the Manileños has the right to choose who they want.
