Sen. Imee Marcos Running As Independent Candidate in 2025 Elections
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator is seeking for re-election and has filed her candidacy as an independent candidate in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
The Commission on Elections has started the period set for the filing of candidacy of those individuals who want to run for public office. There are also current offiicials who are seeking for re-election in the 2025 Midterm Election.
A few days ago, the grand alliance of five (5) political parties in the Philippines announced their bets in the 2025 Elections. The grand alliance includes the political party of President Bongbong Marcos, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
The PFP merged with National Unity Party, Lakas-CMD, Nacionalista Party, and the Nationalist People’s Coalition forming the grand alliance. The administration’s senatorial slate was announced by no other than Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
The admin’s senate slate was announced by Pres. Marcos at the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas Convention. Here are the senatorial candidates that Marcos will support in the 2025 Elections:
- Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos,
- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay,
- Senator Pia Cayetano,
- Senator Lito Lapid,
- Senator Francis Tolentino,
- Senator Imee Marcos,
- Senator Ramon ”Bong” Revilla Jr.,
- former Senator Manny Pacquiao,
- former Senator Panfilo Lacson
- former Senator Vicente Sotto III,
- Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, and
- former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo
However, Sen. Imee Marcos who was not present at the convention decided to withdraw from the admin’s senate slate. According to the Senator, her decision to not be on the senate slate of the administration is for the sake of her younger brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Sen. Imee Marcos also stressed that she does not want to hurt some “friends”. According to her, she is aware that she is regarded to be boating in two (2) rivers but she really wants to be an instrument for the rivers to meet.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not contest the decision of Sen. Marcos to withdraw from the admin’s senate slate. He also recalled that there were also times when he chose to run as an independent candidate but he assured his sister that she is welcome if she decides to join the campaign sorties of the admin’s bets.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos finalized her senatorial bid as an independent candidate in the 2025 Midterm Election. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Presidential Sister was accompanied her two (2) sons, Borgy and Attorney Michael Manotoc, when she filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC).
“Pinili kong maging malaya para hindi na año kakampi kaninuman laban sa iba. Maigi pa na pillín ang sambayanang Pilipino,” Marcos told the media.
According to Sen. Imee, she’s always been “pasaway” but she expects the President to continue supporting her. Based on the report, when asked if Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will endorse her, the Senator expressed having no knowledge about it saying that what she wants is the endorsement of all.
