Pres. Duterte Expressed Prayer for Recovery of Doc Willie Ong
DUTERTE – The former President sent a heartfelt message for Doc Willie Ong who is currently fighting cancer.
Doc Willie Ong is now in Singapore for his treatment against cancer. It was over two (2) weeks ago when the popular cardiologist revealed that he was diagnosed with sarcoma. According to him, it is a rare type of cancer and it is hard to treat.
The doctors of Doc Willie found a 16-centimeter mass behind his heart. According to the cardiologist, it is in front of his spine and it is blocking his esophagus. Thus, the initial signs he noticed were difficulty in breathing and swallowing.
Doc Willie is undergoing a chemotherapy session abroad. Aside from his doctors and his nurses, the wife of Doc Willie, Dra. Liza Ramoso-Ong, is also in Singapore to take care of him. Previously, the cardiologist said that there is a 50-50 prognosis of his cancer.
Speaking to Jessica Soho, Doc Willie said that there is a 50% chance that he will live a few more months to a year and a 50% possibility that he can die anytime. Early in September, Doc Willie was also in critical condition for four (4) days due to neutropenic sepsis.
Several former and current public officials reached out to Doc Willie to express their prayers and hope for the recovery of the cardiologist. He previously expressed his gratitude and made mention of Vice President Sara Duterte, Senator Bong, former Sen. Bam Aquino, and interior secretary Benhur Abalos for reaching out to him.
Doc Willie Ong also shared that Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gibo Teodoro, his classmate of 12 years, also reached out to him. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also expressed his heartfelt support and prayers for the recovery of Doc Willie.
“Doc Willie, eh medyo dumadaan tayo ng bumpy road sa buhay. Alam ko kaya mo and nagdadasal kami, most of all, our fervent wish is get well soon. Mabuhay ka,” Duterte said.
Recently, countless Filipinos were surprised when Doc Willie confirmed that he will run for senator in 2025. There were prior speculations about his candidacy when he stressed that everything that he will do is for the Filipino people. He wants to help the poor and better the healthcare in the country.
