Carlos Yulo Now Part of Philippine Navy Reserve Force
CARLOS YULO – Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Carlos Yulo just joined the Philippine Navy Reserve Force.
Olympic champion Carlos Edriel Yulo, a two-time gold medalist, has officially become part of the Philippine Navy Reserve Force. Yulo took his oath on Monday at the Navy Headquarters, marking a new milestone in his life.
“I am proud to have the privilege of being enlisted in the Philippine Navy Reserve Force, a recognition I never expected in my lifetime,” Caloy shared. The 24-year-old gymnast, who made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by becoming the first Filipino to win two gold medals, expressed his deep gratitude and pride in joining the Navy’s ranks.
“Wearing this Navy uniform fills me with immense pride. With all my heart, I thank the Philippine Navy for this prestigious recognition. I will uphold its core values and inspire today’s youth, showing them that through sports, they too can serve our country,” Carlos added.
According to the Naval Public Affairs Office, he now holds the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.
With his enlistment, Yulo joins the ranks of other Filipino Olympic athletes serving in the military, such as Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, both in the Air Force, and boxer Nesthy Petecio, a two-time Olympic medalist now with the Philippine Coast Guard.

Philippine Navy Flag Officer In Command Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., through MGen. Joseph Ferrous Cuison PN, praised Yulo’s commitment. “Your dedication, discipline, and drive made you a champion on the world stage, and now, you bring those same qualities to the Philippine Navy. We know that when you commit to something, you give it your all. I am confident you will do the same as a reservist, standing alongside men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and uplifting our nation.”
Caloy’s remarkable achievements in the floor exercise and vault events at the Paris Olympics have cemented his legacy. Now, he embarks on a new path, serving his country as a member of the Philippine Navy Reserve Force.
