Sen. Bato dela Rosa Says Duterte is More Comfortable in Senate than House
BATO DELA ROSA – The former PNP chief and now Senator will launch a probe on the war on drugs and invite former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as one of its resource persons.
It is no secret to the public that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s governance comes along with an anti-drugs campaign which he champions since he was the mayor of Davao City. When it was brought to the national level, it hooked several controversies and accusations.
There are deaths that were linked to the war on drugs campaign of the Duterte administration. Several entities including those that are part of the current Philippine government are investigating the issues and controversy surrounding the campaign.
Recently, Senator Bong Go defended former Pres. Duterte saying the people were on a “standing ovation” then regarding the drug war. The lawmaker also cited that the people clapped whenever Duterte would mention his campaign in his six (6) previous speeches for the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Go asked the critics of Duterte why the former Chief Executive is alone and being blamed now. He also asked the critics if they did not benefit from the drug war of the Duterte administration.
Regarding the stauch campaign, both former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sen. Bato dela Rosa ara faced with accusations over the drug war. Dela Rosa was the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief during the term of former Pres. Duterte.
Amid the accusations, Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed that he will launch a probe into the drug war of the Duterte administration. Based on a report on GMA News, he even plans to invite the former President and his cabinet members in the investigation.
“Ipapatawag natin [Duterte] at kung sinu-sino pang Cabinet member niya noon na pwede nating magiging resource person,” the Senator said.
According to Sen. Bato dela Rosa, he has yet to inform former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte about the Senate investigation but he is confident that the former Chief Executive will attend the Senate probe. Based on the report, the Senator claimed that the former President is more comfortable in the Senate compared with the House of Representatives.
“Malaking posibilidad na mag-attend siya kung kami mag-imbita. Mukhang mas komportable siya dito sa Senado kesa Lower House,” Dela Rosa said.
Furthermore, based on the report, Dela Rosa expressed that he does not think that Duterte will not attend the probe if it is him who will invite the former President. Amid the ongoing accusations on his drug war, former Pres. Duterte will be running for Davao City mayor in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
