‘No intention to offed,’ PNP Believes on Viral Photo of Marbil w/ Alice Guo
PNP – The Philippine National Police apologized over the friendly photo of their chief, Police General Rommel Marbil, with former Mayor Alice Guo.
The arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia sparked relief on countless Filipinos most especially the authorities who are after shedding light on the issue. The former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac is accused of involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town.
The Indonesian authorities arrested Guo in a rented apartment in Jakarta. Reportedly, the former Mayor left the Philippines in July and went to Malaysia then moved to Singapore and Indonesia. The Philippine authorities informed the ASEAN ambassadors regarding the case.
Prior to the former Mayor being arrested, the Indonesian authorities detained her alleged companions, Shiela Guo and Cassandra Ong. Guo was believed to be the sister of the former Mayor while Ong is facing accusations of illegal POGO involvement in Porac, Pampanga. They were sent back to the Philippines.
Shiela was sent to the Senate while Cassandra was sent to the House of Representatives. Both of them denied illegal POGO involvement. According to Shiela, Alice Guo is not her biological sister and she just came in the Philippines to work.
Cassandra Ong felt dizzy during a House hearing and was sent to the hospital. She denied being a business partner of the former Mayor. According to her, she only knows Alice because she is the sister of her boyfriend, Wesley Guo.
Alice Guo is now back in the Philippines. Amid the relief that the former Mayor was arrested in Indonesia, countless Filipinos had negative reactions over the authorities’ friendly photos with her. One of which was the photo of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP chief Rommel Marbil who can be seen smiling in a photo with Alice Guo.
Recently, the Philippine National Police released a statement over the friendly photo of their chief, Rommel Marbil, and the DILG Secretary with former Mayor Alice Guo. Based on a report on GMA News, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo expressed confidence that the SILG and their Chief are aware about the public’s view.
“Kung meron mang na-offend, kung meron mang hindi nagustuhan po ‘yun ay humihingi tayo ng pasensya… There was no intention on their part to offend anyone,” Fajardo expressed.
Previously, President Bongbong Marcos also gave his reaction to the selfies of the government officials with Alice Guo. Photos of Guo went viral on social media.
Fomer Mayor Alice Guo will be housed in the detention facility previously occupied by former senator Leila de Lima. The PNP assured that there will be no special treatment for Guo.
