Camp of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Speaks on Next Move Following his Arrest
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s camp revealed that they wanted to seek the transfer of his custody to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) or a house arrest.
The Philippine National Police previously conducted intensified operations to search Pastor Quiboloy. The said operations were conducted at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City. On Sunday, the PNP announced the arrest of Pastor Quiboloy.
Quiboloy is currently in the custody of the Philippine National Police. He was recently presented to the media but he was fully-covered and it earned different reactions from the authorities. His blurry mugshots also sparked negative reactions from the people.
Following the arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte filed charges against the PNP officials and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos for the police operations at the KOJC compound.
The PNP conducted drilling operations. The authorities previously held on to their belief that the Pastor may be hiding in a bunker. The radar reportedly detected a heartbeat underground.
According to Attorney Israelito Torreon, the lawyer of KOJC, Apollo Quiboloy’s “surrender” is an “ultimate sacrifice” as he did not want the operations inside the KOJC compound to continue and his members to suffer.
Reportedly, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is currently detained at the Custodial Facility of the Philippine National Police (PNP). However, based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the camp of the Pastor want his custody to be transferred to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
According to Atty. Torreon, the security of the Pastor is one of the reasons why they want his custody to be transferred from the PNP to the AFP. The camp of Quiboloy is also thinking about seeking a house arrest for the Pastor citing his age.
“At the very least, a house arrest knowing that he is already 74 years old,” Atty. Torreon told the reporters.
Previously, the interior department announced that there is a reward money of P10 million for the information that could tell the whereabouts of the Pastor. Following his arrest, the DILG spoke on the reward money for the arrest of Apollo Quiboloy.
