Former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan To Vie for Senate Comeback in 2025
KIKO PANGILINAN – The former Senator and vice presidential bet in 2022 will run for a Senate comeback in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
Most of the election candidates of the Liberal Party lost in the 2022 Elections. The LP which is one of the most popular and long-standing political parties in the Philippines was led by the Leni-Kiko tandem in the recent national elections.
However, both former Vice President Leni Robredo and former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan lost the presidential and vice presidential races, respectively. Meanwhile, visibly, the former Vice President and former Senator have well-accepted the results of the Elections 2022.
The 2022 Elections result was a big loss for the Liberal Party but the story did not end there. Based on a report on GMA News Balitambayan, the members of the LP are now gearing up for the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections.
The Liberal Party recently had a national assembly held in San Juan City. At the meeting of the members, former Quezon Representative Erin Tañada announced some of the election bids in the upcoming 2025 Elections.
According to Tañada, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will run for mayor in Naga City. Her late husband, former interior secretary Jesse Robredo, had served as the mayor of Naga City prior to her appointment at the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the term of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino.
Based on the report, at the general assembly of the Liberal Party, it was also announced that 2022 vice presidential bet and former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan will seek a Senate comeback in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
Former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan has served as senator from 2001 until 2013 and from 2016 until 2022. He was also the Senate Majority Leader from 2004 to 2008.
Based on the report, former Sen. Leila de Lima will be the first nominee of the Liberal Party for their sectoral wing, the Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list group. Former congressmen Teddy Baguilat and Erin Tañada are the second and third nominees of ML.
“Naging mahapdi ang ating pagkatalo nu’ng 2022, pero ‘di tayo sumuko patuloy tayong nag-organisa,” Tañada said.
