House of Representatives Issues Detention Order vs. Harry Roque amid POGO Investigations
HARRY ROQUE – Amid a pending detention order, the House Sergeant-at-Arms have yet to locate the former presidential spokesman.
Attorney Roque, the presidential spokesman during the presidential term of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is one of the known personalities who are faced with accusations of links to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations. He is faced with accusations of his alleged involvement in the illegal POGO hub that was raided by the authorities in Porac, Pampanga.
Roque earned the accusation after a letter of him was found in the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga. The said POGO is the Lucky South 99. It is allegedly renting on the property owned by the Whirlwind Corporation.
Following the authorities finding the letter, the former presidential Spokesman was accused of leading the legal department of the raided POGO hub. He denied the allegations.
Upon knowing about the invitation of the Senate for a hearing, Harry Roque even teased to expose the identities of the “POGO protectors” at the hearing. However, the much-awaited claim did not happen at the inquiry set by the upper chamber.
The House of Representatives also launched its investigation on the issues about the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the Philippines. However, the lower chamber decided to issue a detention order against the former presidential Spokesman after he failed to comply with the documents required by the House.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the House Sergeant-at-Arms were looking for Harry Roque for three (3) days already but failed to locate the lawyer. According to Surigao del Sur 2nd District Representative Johnny Pimentel, if Roque does not appear at the hearing on Thursday, the House Quad committee members might request a hold-departure order against him.
Previously, Roque was detained for his absence at a hearing of the House Quad Committee investigating the issues related to the Duterte administration. Based on the report, since then, he called himself as a “political detainee”. He also accused the current administration of allegedly targeting him because of his being a Duterte supporter.
“Since Friday he’s into hiding, we already consider him as a fugitive,” the Surigao del Sur lawmaker said.
Previously, the PAOCC said that Harry Roque will be included in the POGO investigation.
