Sen. Bong Go Gives Message for Doc Willie Ong following Cancer Diagnosis
BONG GO – The Senator expressed his hope for the speedy recovery of Doc Willie Ong who was diagnosed with cancer and went through “neutropenic sepsis”.
One of the shocking news that saddened countless people was the news about the revelation of Doc Willie Ong that he is currently fighting cancer. The doctor who was one of the vice presidential candidates during the 2022 Elections was diagnosed with sarcoma.
Doc Willie’s doctors found his cancer in front of his spine, behind his heart and his sarcoma is blocking his esophagus. According to the doctor, the initial signs he noticed were breathing and swallowing difficulties but he attributed it to aging then.
The doctor admitted that he no longer went on medical missions when the weather is too hot and he feels some discomfort. Doc Willie also experienced back pain which intensified after a few months and prompted him to go for a check up.
The doctors of Doc Willie Ong found a sarcoma which he described as one of the hardest to treat. He also expressed that his tumor is the biggest that his doctors have seen and they cannot perform a surgery on it because there are too many blood vessels attached to it.
Doc Willie expressed that he is already finished with the first session of the five chemotherapy sessions that he may have. According to the doctor, his condition has affected his sense of taste and describes every food as “tastes like metal”.
Meanwhile, Doc Willie is determined to live and he really eats even though he does not have the right sense of taste now. He also recently went through a “neutropenic sepsis” which left him in critical condition for four days. His blood pressure level fell and his White Blood Cell (WBC) count was down to zero.
According to Doc Willie, even his doctor was surprised that he made it. The doctor believes that his negative thoughts and feelings from the bashing he got during the 2022 Elections campaign have contributed to the disease that he is fighting now.
Following his cancer diagnosis announcement, countless people reached out to Doc Willie Ong. One of them is Senator Bong Go who gave a message for the doctor. He stressed that the Filipino people are all praying for his speedy recovery and he must keep his faith strong and remain positive.
“We are all rooting for you to get better soon. Alam po namin kung gaano kayo ka tapang at dedikado sa inyo serbisyo sa bayan. Malaki ang tiwala ko na malalampasan ninyo ang hamong ito,” Sen. Bong Go said.
Sen. Go also stressed that the concern and guide that Doc Willie has for the Filipino people are important to everyone. He urged the doctor to pray as the Filipino people is beside him in his fight against cancer.
“Kasama niyo po kami sa laban na ‘to at umaasa kami sa inyong mabilis na paggaling. Get well soon, Dr. Willie Ong. Looking forward pa po ako sa part 2 ng ating mga interviews. Maraming salamat,” he said in the video.
Aside from Sen. Bong Go, Vice President Sara Duterte also sent a message for Doc Willie Ong. They were vice presidential contenders in the 2022 Elections.
