Atty. Stephen David, Alice Guo’s Lawyer, Speaks on Conversation w/ Former Mayor
ALICE GUO’S LAWYER – Attorney Stephen David, the legal counsel of the former Mayor, claimed that his client wanted to surrender to authorities.
The “Guo” is undeniably one of the most popular last names in the Philippines now. It really went trending online amid the accusations against former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. She is accused of her alleged link to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town and her identity.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously confirmed that Guo’s fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. She denied the POGO allegations and asserted her Filipino citizenship.
An arrest order was released by the Senate against former Mayor Alice Guo. Several government offices and agencies also filed charges and complaints against her. However, she was reportedly able to flee Philippines. Her reported departure has left countless Filipinos disappointed.
Currently, the immigration bureau believes that Guo is still in Indonesia. Her reported first stop when she left the Philippines was Malaysia and then she moved to Singapore then to Indonesia. Alice’s supposed sister, Shiela Guo, claimed they fled PH through “a small boat”.
Shiela Guo and Cassandra Li Ong, the alleged POGO representative in Porac, were detained in Indonesia and brought back to the Philippines. Guo is now under the custody of the Senate while Ong is under the custody of the House of Representatives.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian revealed that he has talked to the ASEAN ambassadors. He believes that former Mayor Alice Guo cannot leave Indonesia. Amid the pursuit to arrest the dimissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, her lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, claimed that she really wanted to surrender to the authorities.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Alice Guo’s lawyer claimed that his client really wanted to surrender to the authorities based on their August 22 conversation. However, Guo is allegedly concerned on her safety.
“Maraming kalaban, hindi lang kasi gobyerno ang interested sa kanya, marami,” David said.
Based on the report, the lawyer of Alice Guo declined to go into details regarding their conversation citing the “lawyer-client privilege”. Meanwhile, he insisted that she wanted to surrender. He is hopeful that the former Mayor will surrender to the authorities after seeing the security provided to Shiela Guo.
According to Atty. David, Wesley Guo has also called him to ask about Shiela. However, the lawyer claimed that Wesley did not disclose his whereabouts. There are speculations and information claiming that the brother of Alice Guo is currently in Hong Kong.
