Former Mayor Alice Guo Still in PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame
ALICE GUO – The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the transfer of the former Mayor to the Pasig City Jail is postponed as the medical assessment is not yet done.
Former Mayor Guo was arrested in Indonesia after several weeks of hiding from the Philippine authorities. The Senate released an arrest order against the former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor after he ditched the hearings set by the upper chamber over her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
Guo was grilled for allowing the illegal POGO operations in her town. Amid the investigation, her identity was also put to question and she is now regarded as “Guo Hua Ping”, the Chinese national who entered the country in 2003.
The National Bureau of Investigation, more popularly called NBI, previously found that the fingerprints of the former Mayor matched with the fingerprints of the Chinese national. However, Guo continuously does not confirm that she is Guo Hua Ping.
The Indonesian authorities located and arrested former Mayor Guo in a rented apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia. The former Mayor was immediately turned over to the Philippine authorities and sent back to the Philippines.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos were among the top officials who went to Indonesia for the turn-over of the former Mayor. Back in the Philippines, she is currently under the custody of the PNP.
Guo was expected to be under the custody of the Senate but cases were filed against her by the court. She can only be turned over to the Senate once she posts bail. However, one of the cases filed against her is currently non-bailable.
The Pasig Court ruled for the transfer of Alice Guo to the Pasig City Jail. However, based on a report on GMA News, the former Mayor has yet to be transferred from the PNP Custodial Facility as the requirements for her transfer have yet to be completed.
According to the PNP, the medical assessment has yet to be conducted to Alice Guo. Meanwhile, the police said that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is on standby this weekend and the former Mayor may be transferred anytime.
“We want to ensure din na di mahahawa ang ibang [persons deprived of liberty] namin sa pagtransfer. Kailangan po talaga na kumpleto ang documents, kailangan po doon yung medical, X-ray niya [and] ECG,” the PNP said.
According to Jail Chief Inspector Jayrex Joseph Bustinera, Guo will be sharing the detention facility in Pasig Jail with 44 inmates in an area that was supposedly set to hold only 9 detainees. Included in those who will be housed there are three (3) co-accused of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Amid the investigations, Alice Guo insists that she’s a Filipino and she is allegedly not involved in the illegal POGO operations. She also claimed that she was already thinking about going home to the Philippines to face the complaints prior to her arrest in Indonesia.
