Former Mayor Alice Guo undergoes Test for TB amid Suspected Lung Infection
ALICE GUO – The former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor tested negative for tuberculosis and will be detained in a regular cell with 44 inmates.
The Indonesian authorities were able to locate and arrest former Mayor Guo in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was arrested in a rented apartment reportedly through a SIM card that was located by the authorities. The move came after the Philippine government alerted the foreign countries about the case of Guo.
Guo is facing accusations of illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations involvement in the country as well as her questionable identity. Amid her continuous claim that she is a Filipino and she is Alice Guo, the lawmakers address the former Mayor as Guo Hua Ping.
Guo Hua Ping is a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that the fingerprints of the former Mayor and the fingerprints of the Chinese national matched.
Back in the Philippines, Guo was under the custody of the Philippine National Police after charges were filed against her before the Court. The Senate was the first to issue an arrest order against Guo but her custody cannot be transferred to the upper chamber unless she posts bail.
However, the charges she is facing before the Pasig Court is non-bailable and the Court recently ordered for her transfer from Camp Crame to Pasig City Jail. Under the PNP, she stayed at the detention room that was occupied by former Senator Leila de Lima for 7 years while the drug charges against her were heard.
The said detention facility had a bed, a table with chairs, a ceiling fan, and its own bathroom. On Monday, Guo was transferred to the Pasig City Jail but she was not immediately placed in a regular cell.
Former Mayor Alice Guo was isolated after her x-ray result showed a possible lung infection. She was placed in a detention cell with a few inmates who were isolated for Tuberculosis and were being treated for a month now.
Alice Guo went through a testing for TB. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Joseph Bustinera said that the former Mayor tested negative for TB.
