Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia. The Indonesian authorities located her in a rented apartment in Jakarta. During the hearings, the former Mayor denied the allegations that she is involved in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations. She also insisted that she is a Filipino although the lawmakers are already addressing her as “Guo Hua Ping”.

Guo Hua Ping is a Chinese national who entered the Philippines in 2003. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously confirmed that Alice Guo and Guo Hua Ping’s fingerprints matched. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) approved a material misrepresentation complaint and filed a quo warranto petition against her, respectively.

Prior to her arrest in Indonesia, the supposed sister of Alice, Shiela, claimed that she, Alice, and Wesley left the Philippines through “a small boat”. According to her, they transferred across three (3) boats until they got to Malaysia.

The Philippine authorities alerted their foreign counterparts and Guo was arrested by the Indonesian authorities. However, at a Senate hearing, Guo previously claimed that they were already having talks of going home to the Philippines after Indonesia and facing the complaints against her.

Recently, Alice Guo attended a hearing at the House of Representatives for the first time. Based on a report on GMA News, at the House hearing, La Union 1st District Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V asked Guo if she will seek re-election as Bamban, Tarlac Mayor in the 2025 Midterm Elections.

“Your honor, as of the moment po, wala pa po akong definite na decision for that po,” Guo said.

La Union made a follow-up question. Based on the report, he pressed on to ask Guo if she has the plan to seek reelection even without the issues that are present now. However, the former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor claimed that she has not really think about it.

According to Alice Guo, her slate is thinking about running again in the 2025 Midterm Elections but she has not talked to her vice mayor and councilors even prior to her departure from the Philippines.
