Former Mayor Alice Guo Arrested by Indonesian Authorities
ALICE GUO – The former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor is still smiling in a photo that was taken after her arrest in Indonesia.
Last month, the reports that former Mayor Guo has left the Philippines brought so much disappointment on countless Filipinos. It also placed the law enforcement authorities in the country in a negative light for failing to locate the former Mayor and the fact that she was able to flee amid multiple complaints.
The name of Guo was on immigration lookout bulletin. Reportedly, she exited the Philippines and went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia then to Singapore and Indonesia. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian talked to the ASEAN ambassadors regarding the case of the former Mayor.
The companions of Alice were detained in Indonesia and sent back to the Philippines. According to Shiela Guo who denied that she and Alice are siblings, she was with Alice and Wesley in departing the Philippines through “a small boat”.
Gatchalian believes that Guo cannot leave Indonesia and, after the ASEAN ambassadors were informed about her case in the Philippines, it will be harder for her to move across nations. Recently, reports that Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia crossed the surface.
The former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor was arrested by the Indonesian authorities in Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia at 11:58 p.m. on September 3, 2024. Both the NBI and the DOJ confirmed the arrest of Guo in Indonesia.
According to the National Bureau of Investigation, the authorities are already talking about the turn-over of the former Mayor to the custody of the Philippine authorities. Based on a post of Inquirer, she recently appeared in a Zoom meeting by the authorities discussing her return to the Philippines.

Senate President Chiz Escudero has also released a statement on the arrest of Guo in Indonesia. Previously, the Senate President slammed the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their failure to arrest the former Mayor.
