Alice Guo To Stay in Detention Room Occupied by Leila de Lima

PNP Speaks on Facility for Former Mayor Alice Guo during Detention

ALICE GUO – The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the former Mayor will occupy the detention room previously occupied by former Senator Leila de Lima.

President Bongbong Marcos thanked the Indonesian authorities for their aid in the arrest of Alice Guo, a former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac who is accused of involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. She is also questioned about her identity.

The National Bureau of Investigation previously found that the fingerprints of Guo match with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. The authorities also found inconsistencies in her documents and testimonies.

However, Guo was out of sight from the authorities and the public after she skipped two (2) Senate hearings in July. An arrest order was released against the former Mayor but the authorities failed to locate her in all her registered addresses.

A few weeks ago, it was announced by Senator Risa Hontiveros that Guo has left the Philippines. Her departure happened amid multiple complaints filed against her and her name being on the immigration lookout bulletin. The Bureau of Immigration claimed that there are no records that the former Mayor passed by the immigration.

The supposed sister of the former Mayor who was detained in Indonesia and sent back to the Philippines, Shiela Guo, claimed that she exited PH with Alice and Wesley through a “small boat”. She denied having knowledge about the illegal POGO operations and being involved in it.

On Friday, former Mayor Guo was brought back to the Philippines by the Philippine authorities. Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Marbil went to Indonesia for the turn-over of Guo.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the PNP recently announced that former Mayor Alice Guo will stay in the detention room that was previously occupied by former senator Leila de Lima. The lawmaker was detained for 7 years in her fight against the drug charges filed against her which were, later on, dismissed by the court.

The PNP which previously assured that there will be no special treatment for Guo said that the detention facility is a simple room with a small table, a comfort room, and no aircon. Only a ceiling fan was installed in the room.

“Isang payak na kwarto, may CR, may maliit na table at higaan, walang aircon,” the PNP said.
