Former Mayor Alice Guo Speaks on Alleged Plans Prior to Arrest in Indonesia
ALICE GUO – During the Senate hearing, the former Mayor claimed that she is thinking of going back to the Philippines before she was arrested in Indonesia.
Undeniably, one of the most popular people in the Philippines now is former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo. Her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town and her questionable identity have caught the attention of countless people.
Amid the several complaints against her and her name being on the immigration lookout bulletin, Alice Guo was able to leave the Philippines. She reportedly went to Malaysia then to Singapore and to Indonesia where she was arrested.
Alice Guo was arrested by the Indonesian authoritities in a rented apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was still in her sleeping wear when the authorities came to her apartment. She was turned over to the Philippine authorities and was brought back to the Philippines.
Guo is currently in the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP). A graft and corruption case was filed against her and she cannot be transferred to the custody of the Senate while she has yet to post bail. Meanwhile, the court allowed her to attend Senate hearings.
At the Senate hearing, the former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor did not confirm if she is Guo Hua Ping, the Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. Her denial is amid her fingeprints matching the fingerprints of the Chinese national.
Guo also consistently denies being involved in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in Tarlac. She also claimed that she was already planning of going back to the Philippines before she was arrested in Indonesia.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Senator Bato dela Rosa asked Guo where she was planning to go next if she was not arrested by the Indonesian authorities. The Philippine government alerted the international counterparts about the case of Guo in the country.
According to Alice Guo, they were already talking to go back to the Philippines and face the accusations against her. The former Mayor also stressed that she never intended to go to China.
“Actually, nag-uusap po kami na uuwi na ko sa Pilipinas, haharapin ko po at magpapaliwanag po ako,” the former Mayor said.
Sen. Dela Rosa was not convinced by the statement of Guo. Previously, a Bureau of Immigration official claimed receiving surrender feelers that was confirmed by Guo.
