Former Mayor Alice Guo, Senators Hold Executive Session
ALICE GUO – The former Mayor promised to recall everything and she also agreed to name the “most guilty” in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
Former Mayor Guo is now in the custody of the Philippine authorities. Guo was transferred to Pasig City Jail upon the order of the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC). She shares the cell with 6 inmates who are facing drug-related cases.
Prior to her transfer to the Pasig City Jail, Guo was under the custody of the Philippine National Police. She stayed at the PNP detention room that was previously occupied by former Senator Leila de Lima. The lawmaker faced drug-related charges and was detained for 7 years until the cases were dismissed.
Although Alice Guo was shocked by the condition of her detention cell in Pasig City Jail which she shares with 6 inmates, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penalogy (BJMP) stressed that the former Mayor is “mostly compliant” on her first night.
Recently, the authorities of the Philippine National Police escorted former Mayor Guo to the Senate for a hearing. At the inquiry, Guo denied that she is mastermind behind the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country.
Alice Guo also claimed that she is a victim on the issues of illegal POGOs in the Philippines. However, when asked if she was used by other individuals, the former Mayor stressed that if she has extended some help, it is because helping is really in her nature.
During the Senate hearing, Alice Guo agreed to name the “most guilty” individual in the illegal POGO operations in an executive session. Her willingness to speak on the matter came after she claimed that the lawmakers probably know who the real mastermind behind the illegal POGOs as the investigation have taken long already. Senator Risa Hontiveros welcomed her statement.
“Sa mga activities po na ginawa or sa mga allegations po, wala po akong kinalaman,” the former Mayor said.
Based on a report on GMA News, amid initial hesitations to start the executive session without the physical attendance of her legal counsels, former Mayor Alice Guo eventually agreed to begin it with his lawyers attending it through Zoom. The lawmakers and the former Mayor and her camp are set to continue the executive session next week.
“May napala naman,” Sen. JV Ejercito said following the executive session.
Based on the report, former Alice Guo also promised to “recall everything”. The executive session was cut short due to the 3:00 p.m. session in the Senate.
