PNP Speaks on Former Mayor Alice Guo’s Detention at Camp Crame

ALICE GUO – The Philippine National Police (PNP) stressed that there will be no special treatment for the former Mayor and gadget use is not allowed during detention.

Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was arrested by the authorities in Indonesia. She is faced with several complaints and accusations in the Philippines but she was able to flee the country and even reportedly went to at least three (3) countries abroad.

Guo reportedly fled the Philippines and went to Malaysia then to Singapore then to Indonesia. The Philippine government alerted the ASEAN ambassadors and the Indonesian authorities helped in locating the former Mayor who is faced with allegations of Philippine Offshore Gaming operations involvement.

Before Guo was arrested in Indonesia, her supposed sister, Shiela Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong were arrested in Indonesia and sent back to the Philippines. Ong is accused of being a representative of an illegal POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.

Shiela Guo denied that Alice Guo is her sister. According to her, she was born in China and she was just sent in the Philippines when she was 16 or 17 to work in the embroidery business of her “foster father”, the father of the former Mayor.

According to Cassandra Li Ong, she is not friends or business partners with Alice. She claimed that she only knows the former Mayor because she is the sister of her boyfriend, Wesley.

Early Friday, former Mayor Alice Guo arrived in the Philippines in a private hangar that landed in Pasay City. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said that Guo brought to Camp Crame at 03:06 a.m.

The PNP assured that there will be no special treatment for Guo. She will not be allowed to use gadgets inside the detention facility thus, the authorities checked on her things. Based on the report, her gadgets will be turned over to her relatives.

“No cellphone, no AirPods… Kung ano po ‘yong proseso na ginawa natin sa ordinaryong citizen,” Fajardo said.

Former Mayor Guo’s health condition was checked. Based on the report, she has normal blood pressure and oxygen levels. The PNP expects that the former Mayor will post a bail for the graft and corruption charges against her. According to the police authorities, she will only be transferred to the Senate after the posting of bail. Otherwise, she will stay in Camp Crame. The mugshots of Guo was released by the PNP.
