Showtime Host Ogie Alcasid Speaks on Role amid Leila’s Decision To Live w/ Boyfriend

OGIE ALCASID – The singer-TV host admitted that he initially felt bad when his daughter, Leila, decided to move in with her boyfriend, Curtismith.

Countless Filipinos are hooked by the different segments aired by the ABS-CBN noontime variety show It’s Showtime. It is one of the longest-running TV shows in the country. Many people love not only the entertainment provided by the show but as well as the sharing of experiences by the hosts.

The Showtime hosts usually ponder on the situations of their guests and speak their side. There are also cases when they share similar experiences with their guests to emphasize their learning from their experience.

Recently, the Showtime hosts talked about the part of the parents on the instance that they have to give their children their freedom. Real-life parents Amy Perez and Ogie Alcasid were among those who gave their take on the situation.

Amy Perez recalled her experience when she had to let go of her eldest son. Tiyang Amy could not resist getting emotional recalling that she shed tears and tears when Adi had to leave their house and stay in a boarding house nearer the university where he will be studying.

For his part, Ogie Alcasid recalled the time when his eldest daughter, Leila, decided to move in together with her boyfriend, Mito Fabie or more popularly known as rapper-singer Curtismith. She is his eldest daughter with his ex-wife, Michelle Van Eimeren.

According to Ogie, he felt bad over the decision of his daughter to move in with her boyfriend without telling him. He even confronted the couple to express his real side on their decision but, at the end of it, gave them the freedom to decide.

“Ikinasama ng loob ko at sinabi ko sa kanilang dalawa ng boyfriend niya, ‘Bakit hindi kayo nagsabi sa akin?'” the OPM icon shared.

During the episode, Ogie Alcasid also mentioned the behavior of some youths nowadays that they really do what they want even if the parents will stop them. According to the singer, it came to the point when he told them that there are in the adulting stage and must be in-charge of their own selves.

“Kayo ay nag-a-adulting na, gawin n’yo ‘yan, bahala na kayo sa buhay n’yo,’” Ogie said referring to his statement on Leila and her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, despite feeling bad about his daughter’s decision, Ogie Alcasid stressed that his role as a parent is to still be there when his daughter needs him. According to him, in case the couple does not end up with each other, they, as parents, must still be there.

Aside from Leila, Ogie has two (2) other children — Sarah, his other daughter with Michelle, and Nate, his son with his wife, Regine Velasquez.
