Film-Making Pillar Mother Lily Monteverde Dies 6 Days after Husband’s Death
MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE – The Monteverde family confirmed the death of their matriarch who died 6 days after their father’s death.
In the Philippine movie industry, one of the most popular icons is Lily Monteverde. The film producer is the one behind several big films including Mano Po; Scorpio Nights; and Shake, Rattle & Roll. Several actors and actresses in the showbiz industry are like his real children.
Mother Lily is a pillar of the Regal Entertainment and she has several “Regal Babies” whose showbiz career remains in the spotlight for decades now. Among her Regal Babies are Dina Bonnevie, Gabby Concepcion, Alma Moreno, Maricel Soriano, Albert Martinez, Ruffa Guttierez, and Snooky Serna.
Recently, the family of Mother Lily Monteverde confirmed that she has passed away. She is really a big loss to the entertainment industry and countless stars are mourning her passing. Meanwhile, the family of the film icon is relieved knowing that their parents are together eternally.
The death of Mother Lily came only six days after her husband, Remy, has passed away. In their statement, the Monteverde family said that their matriarch died surrounded by her family and loved ones and she was able to say goodbye to her loved ones and collegue.
Mother Lily is survived by her children, Winston, Meme, Roselle, Dondon and Goldwin; in-laws Stephen and Grace; grandchildren Keith, Theo, Bridget, Matthew, Redwin, Jewel and Kristen; granddaughter-in-law Winni; and great-grandchild Mikayla. She is 85 at the time of her death and will be celebrating her 86th birthday on July 29.
The family of Mother Lily Monteverde did not disclose the cause of her death. In their statement, the family recalled that even in her final years, she remained a cornerstone of the movie industry and she’s not only mother to her children but as well as to several generations of filmmakers.
The Monteverde family requests the public “to cherish the memory of Mother Lily not only as a face of cinema but as a loving mother who she truly was”. The bereaved family also asks for prayers. The wake of the film icon will be held at 38 Valencia Events Place in Quezon City. Her funeral is scheduled on August 10 at The Heritage Park, Taguig.
