Budget for VP Sara Duterte’s Security Being Questioned amid 400 AFP Personnel Assigned for her Security Detail
VP SARA DUTERTE’S SECURITY – Manila Representative Joel Chua wants the budget of the Vice President for her security scrutinized.
The security detail of Vice President Sara Duterte became a hot topic after the number of the Philippine National Police (PNP) cops and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel assigned for her security were revealed.
Reportedly, close to 400 personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) were assigned for the security of Vice Pres. Duterte. There are also 31 PNP cops who are part of her security detail after the relief of the 75 cops assigned for Duterte’s security.
Amid the concern of her political allies on her security, Vice Pres. Duterte assured the public that the recall of some of the cops assigned for her security detail will not affect her work. She also told her allies and her supporters that she knows that her duty comes along with risk and they do not need to worry.
Instead, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte appealed for the security of her family members. She asked her allies and her supporters to not let any harm be inflicted on her family members. Senator Bato dela Rosa requested PNP chief Rommel Francisco Marbil to re-assign the PNP cops trusted by Duterte back as her security detail. The chief of the PNP committed to do it.
However, amid the issue about VP Sara Duterte’s security eliciting different reactions from the people, Manila Representative Joel Chua wants the budget for the security of the Vice President checked. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he expressed his belief that the VP does not need too much security personnel like what she has now.
Chua clarified that he is not saying that the budget for VP Sara Duterte’s security must be stripped off. According to him, he just believes that having that much security is more than enough to secure one family. The Manila Solon claims that around 100 security personnel would do.
“Tingin ko more than enough eh, sobrang dami na po niyan para magbantay sa isang pamilya,” Chua said.
According to the lawmaker, he is not after the Vice President. He stressed that his pursuit is to clarify how the taxpayers’ money is spent.
