Atty. Stephen David, Lawyer of Alice Guo, Says Ex-Mayor No Need To Be Arrested
LAWYER OF ALICE GUO – Attorney Stephen David spoke on his conversation with the former Mayor and he is hopeful she will surrender soon.
Amid multiple complaints filed against her, former Mayor Alice Guo reportedly left the Philippines last July 17. According to the Bureau of Immigration, Guo did not pass by the immigration and she is now in Indonesia. Her companions were recently sent back home to the Philippines.
Alice Guo’s sister, Shiela, and her alleged cohort, Cassandra Li Ong, were sent back to PH from Indonesia. Sheila Guo felt unwell upon their arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). They were taken to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and medical check-ups were scheduled. The authorities are doing backtracking to determine how Guo was able to depart the country.
The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has filed a quo warranto petition against Guo while the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gave the material misrepresentation complaint a go signal. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also filed a tax evasion case against Guo.
However, a document that Senator Risa Hontiveros recently presented during a Senate session left countless people disappointed. It claimed that Guo has left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Senator expressed that from Malaysia, the former Mayor went to Singapore to meet with her family.
The latest update from the Bureau of Immigration said that former Mayor Alice Guo is in Indonesia. However, it was not confirmed or denied by the lawyer of Alice Guo. Based on a recent report on GMA News, Attorney Stephen David is hopeful that Guo will surrender and he believes that there is no need to arrest her.
According to the lawyer of Alice Guo, he does not know if she is really in Indonesia but they have a negotiation for her to face the court. He is confident that they can defend the former Mayor in the court.
“I’m very hopeful na meron akong negotiation for her to face the court, to surrender and I believe in a very near future, sooner than we expect darating siya at haharap,” David said.
Based on the report, the lawyer of Alice Guo stressed that his client is worried about her safety. According to Atty. David, Guo is “very cooperative” but she has worries about her security and he is already working on that. He stressed that the former Mayor wants them to continue the defense from the case.
