Former Pres. Duterte Slams Freeze Order on Assets of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
DUTERTE – Amid pending arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, a freeze order on his assets was issued and the ex-President is not in favor of it.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of the KOJC or the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, is one of the high-profile personalities in the Philippines with a pending arrest order. He is facing several allegations and he skipped the hearing set by the Senate.
Around five (5) months ago, the Senate moved to subpoena Quiboloy after he snubbed the inquiry set by the upper chamber. Since then, there were no information about the whereabouts of the Pastor and the Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to serve the arrest order.
Recently, a lawmaker even reacted to high-profile personalities with arrest orders remaing at large. Kabataan Party-List Representative Raoul Manuel slammed the PNP as he contrasted their implementation of arrest orders among the ordinary citizens and the high-profile personalities.
According to Manuel, it is hard for the PNP to arrest the high-profile personalities while it is very easy for them to implement arrest orders on ordinary individuals. His statement came amid the deliberation on the proposed 2025 budget of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos downplayed the statement of Manuel saying that it is not like than. The Philippine National Police also stressed their continuous efforts to locate the individuals with pending arrest orders.
Recently, a freeze order was also issued on the assets of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. To this, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is a close friend of the Pastor reacted. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the former President is also the administrative officer of the KOJC properties.
According to former Pres. Duterte, it is not right that the assets of Pastor Quiboloy is held under a freeze order. Based on the report, the former Chief Executive stressed that his assets are not public funds and there is no allegation of misuse.
“Sabihin ko sa’yo, without criticizing… Mali ‘yan!” former Pres. Duterte said.
During the interview with ANC, the former President also reacted to the huge number of the police authorities deployed around the KOJC.He stressed that the person with an arrest order is a single individual who is a Pastor. He believes that only (3) law-enforcing individuals can already perform the job in the pursuit of locating Quiboloy.
