Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte Questions Duration of PNP Presence, Appeals To KOJC Members
BASTE DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor reacted to the stay of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the KOJC compound for the arrest of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Recently, the personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) trooping in at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City sparked countless headlines. The authorities are in the pursuit of serving a warrant of arrest against KOJC founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
There are several complaints filed against Pastor Quiboloy. A few months ago, the Senate organized a hearing over the accusations against the KOJC Leader but he snubbed the inquiry set by the upper chamber. It prompted the Senate to order the arrest and detention of Quiboloy.
However, even if it’s been months now since the arrest order was released against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the authorities have yet to locate the KOJC Leader. Only a co-accused of Pastor Quiboloy was arrested in Davao City.
Previously, the Department of Interior and Local Government or DILG has announced a P15 million reward money for the Pastor and his co-accused. Previously, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is a close friend of the Pastor said that the freezing of the assets of the Pastor is not right. He also stressed that there were several authorities trying to locate a single individual.
Recently, around 2,000 PNP cops trooped in at the KOJC compound in Davao City in the pursuit of serving the arrest order against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte reacted to the PNP presence at the KOJC compound.
Based on a report on GMA News, while Mayor Baste Duterte respects the implementation of the arrest warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, he claimed that the PNP cops are no longer following proper procedure in the implementation of the warrant.
“We have observed that the PNP personnel led by General Marbil and General Torre are no longer following proper procedure,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, Mayor Baste Duterte stressed that the situation has already caused inconvenience to the public, the businesses, and the motorists. He raised a question on the duration of the PNP presence at the KOJC compound.
“The public seeks clarification from the PNP, how long do you intend to stay at the KOJC property,” the Mayor said.
Duterte also appealed to the members of the KOJC to conduct protest in a peaceful way and to prevent from doing activities that can disrupt the flow of the traffic to ensure the public and the KOJC members’ safety.
