Marcos Set for SONA 2024 at Batasang Pambansa
SONA 2024 – The analysts and lawmakers spoke on the issues they expect that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will tackle in his State of the Nation Address.
Annually, the President of the Philippines delivers a State of the Nation Address to the people or more popularly called SONA. Pres. Bongbong Marcos is set to deliver his 3rd SONA this year.
The President will deliver his 3rd State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa Complex. It is set at 4:00 p.m. before the joint session of the Congress. It is expected to gather the congressmen, senators, the cabinet members, and many important personalities in the government.
Most often, lawmakers and the other attendees of the State of the Nation Address of the president usually come along with their spouses. However, ahead of the SONA 2024, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will not attend the 3rd SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Vice Pres. Duterte appointed herself as the “Designated Survivor” for her decision not to attend the upcoming SONA of the President. She also declared that she will no longer serve the cabinet of the chief executive.
The State of the Nation Address is a report to the people about the vision, priorities, and goals of the government. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the inflation in the Philippines, the operations of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), and the issues on the West Philippine Sea are among the topics that analysts and lawmakers expect Pres. Bongbong Marcos to tackle in the SONA 2024.
Analyst Ederson Tapia expect Pres. Marcos to give updates on the West Philippine Sea issue. In the recent months, China has become more aggresive in its operations in the disputed island as well as its treatment of the Filipino authorities deployed in the area. Based on the article, Tapia stressed that the issues on the WPS is closely-monitored by both the political observers and the ordinary citizens.
Tapia also spoke on Teleradyo Serbisyo his belief that the people wants to know if there is a new direction on the West Philippine Sea issue. He also expected the President to talk about regional security.

According to the lawmaker, she expects that the Chief Executive will speak on the rising costs of rice and other agricultural products as well as the WPS issue that affects Filipino fishermen.
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri who recently left his post as the senate president also expect Pres. Marcos to speak on the inflation in the Philippines. He also hopes that the President will tackle the call to ban the POGOs in the country. According to him, “it is time for a clear policy on POGOs.
