OSAA Speaks on Mayor Alice Guo Arrest Order
OSAA – The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms confirmed that it has served the arrest order against suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is currently facing several allegations. She is accused of being linked to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. The investigations on her identity are also ongoing following inconsistent documents and testimonies.
However, last July 10, Mayor Alice Guo skipped the Senate hearing and her lawyer justified that she’s “traumatized”. According to Attorney Stephen David, the suspended Mayor is also physically and emotionally drained due to the many accusations against her.
Due to her absence at the hearing, the Senate cited Guo in contempt. The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality wrote a letter to Senate President Chiz Escudero. Prior to it, the Senate President expressed his readiness to sign the arrest order if Sen. Risa Hontiveros will request it.
On Saturday, an arrest order against Mayor Alice Guo was released by the Senate after Escudero and Hontiveros have signed it. Aside from the suspended Mayor, seven (7) others such as the following are facing arrest orders as well:
- Dennis Lacson Cunanan
- Nancy Gamo
- Sheila Leal Guo
- Wesley Leal Guo
- Jian Zhong Guo
- Seimen L. Guo
- Wenyi Lin
Sheila Leal Guo, Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen L. Guo, and Wenyi Lin are alleged relatives of the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor. There is an order to detain Guo and the seven individuals until they appear before the Committee.
The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms or the OSAA was ordered to serve the arrest orders to Mayor Alice Guo and 7 others within 24 hours since its issuance. Two (2) hearings were skipped by the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.
The OSAA has already served the arrest orders against Mayor Alice Guo and 7 others based on a report on GMA News. However, “negative presence” was found except for Nancy Gamo, the accountant of the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.
