Childhood Dream Job of Host Kuya Kim Atienza
KUYA KIM ATIENZA – Kapuso host Kuya Kim Atienza also known as the “Kuya ng Bayan ”disclosed his childhood dream job in an interview.
Kim Atienza, a renowned Kapuso TV host, recently made a surprising revelation that stunned netizens. During an episode of “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel,” Kuya Kim disclosed that he once aspired to become a priest.
He entered the seminary in high school in Pampanga, dedicating himself to studying and serving the church and God. “My theology, my catholic theology is quite solid. I can even pray in Latin and I know Latin because I took two years of Latin. I know the Our Father in Latin,” he shared.
Kuya Kim added, “I used to pray in Latin in the seminary because I wanted so badly to be a priest. Early on, even as a young boy, Jesus Christ was always my best friend. I would talk to him, I would pray to him. I was a very prayerful kid. When I got bullied, I would pray to him.”
However, his relationship with God at that time was not very deep, seeing Jesus more as a friend than a savior.
“But Jesus Christ growing up was not my Lord and Savior and that makes a difference. Jesus Christ was only a friend to turn to. Of course, he was my Father, he was Papa Jesus, he was best friend Jesus. But he was not Lord Jesus and that makes a difference,” he explained.
Kuya Kim’s faith deepened after he experienced Guillain-Barre syndrome, a condition that can cause paralysis and be life-threatening. He said, “[In] 2010, I suffered a stroke. 2013. I got sick again and [had] another mortal illness. It’s a rare disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome. My hands and my feet got paralyzed. I was totally going to be paralyzed and eventually die.”
The 57-year-old celebrity described his decision to accept Christ and become a Born Again Christian. He invited his friend and the friend’s pastor wife to the intensive care unit, where he made the decision to stick with his newfound faith and took God into his heart.
When questioned about the religion of his family, Kuya Kim acknowledged that both he and his son Jose are devout Christians. Kuya Kim respects Felicia’s beliefs and the beliefs of their other two children because she follows a different faith than he does.
