Order on DepEd Guidelines for S.Y. 2024-25 Released
DEPED – The Department of Education issued the guidelines for schools, teachers, students, and non-teaching staff for the academic year 2024-25.
As a new academic year is expected to begin in the Philippines soon, parents are on the move to prepare the needs of their children — notebooks, school bags, new sets of uniforms and socks, and a lot more. Teachers, students, and non-teaching school staff are also getting ready.
In the Philippines, there are different bodies that leads the school levels. It is the Commission on Higher Education or CHED for state colleges and universities. In the case of elementary and secondary schools, the public schools of these levels are under the Department of Education.
More popularly called DepEd, the Department of Education recently released an order containing the guidelines for the upcoming school year 2024-2025. It is the Department Order 009 series of 2024.
Based on the newly-released DepEd order regarding the guidelines for the school year 2024-2025, the academic year will officially start on July 29, 2024 and will end on April 15, 2025.
In case there are declarations made by authorized officers like local government units (LGUs) due to natural calamities and other emergencies, the schools may transition to Blended Learning Delivery Modality or BLDM. It is for the safety of the teachers, students, and the non-teaching staff.
The in-person learning is set to still be the primary learning delivery modality or LDM. DepEd stressed that the said mode of learning enables in-depth and real-time teacher and learner interaction. Meanwhile, the blended learning and the full distance learning may still be implemented as the Department Order 44 series of 2022 remains in effect.
The Brigada Eskwela is scheduled from July 22 to July 27, 2024 while the Oplan Balik Eskwela will run from July 22 to August 2, 2024. Based on the DepEd order released, schools are ordered to conduct regular summative assessments and formative tests.
With regards to the school breaks, here are the important schedules:
- Midyear School Break — November 25 to 29, 2024
- Christmas Break — December 21, 2024 to January 2, 2025
The order of the Department of Education contained that the end of the school year rites is from April 14 to 15, 2025. Private schools may adopt the guidelines set by DepEd.
