Mayor Alice Guo’s Lawyer Speaks after Senate Issues Arrest Order
ALICE GUO’S LAWYER – Attorney Stephen David issued a statement amid the authorities trying to locate the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor.
Currently, countless Filipinos await updates on the issues involving suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. There are several allegations against the Mayor including questions about her identity and her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
The fingerprints of Mayor Alice Guo matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national, which suggests that they are the same person. The matching of their fingerprints was confirmed by the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI.
Last July 10, suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo ditched the Senate hearing. According to Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer, Stephen David, the Mayor was “traumatized” and “drained” from the many accusations against her.
The Senate cited Guo in contempt for not attending the Senate hearing. The committee that handles the issue penned a letter to Senate President Chiz Escudero. Prior to it, he expressed that he is ready to sign the arrest order in case it will be requested.
Last Saturday, an arrest order against Mayor Guo was released by the Senate. The authorities visited all the registered addresses of the suspended Mayor as well as her farm in Tarlac and her garments factories in different areas. They could not locate the Mayor.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian believes that Mayor Alice Guo is now hiding. Meanwhile, he is confident that the Mayor is still in the country as there is a hold departure order against her. Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer recently issued a statement.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer said that the Mayor fears for her security as there are a lot of threats to her. According to Atty. Stephen David, she is scared of what might happen to her if she will be detained.
The legal counsel of the suspended Mayor further said that Guo is thinking about attending the Senate hearing. More updates may be posted soon.
