Authorities Fail To Locate Mayor Alice Guo amid Arrest Order
ALICE GUO – Senator Sherwin Gatchalian believes that the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor is now hiding to evade arrest after an order was released.
The Senate has released an arrest order against Mayor Guo after she was cited in contempt for not attending the hearing set by the upper chamber last July 10. According to the legal counsel of the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor, she’s “traumatized” and “drained” from the treatment to her and the allegations against her.
Mayor Guo is currently facing accusations of her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. The suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor is also being questioned about her identity and the billions that entered her bank accounts since 2019.
Mayor Alice Guo’s fingerprints matched the fingerprints of a Chinese national, Guo Hua Ping. On her questionable wealth, the Court of Appeals has issued a Freeze Order on the assets of Mayor Guo. A money-laundering case was also filed against the suspended Mayor after billions entered her bank accounts since 2019.
According to Atty. Stephen David, the lawyer of Guo, she’s traumatized from how she was treated so she skipped the latest hearing. They asserted that it is self-incrimination but Senator Risa Hontiveros said that it is only recognized by the Supreme Court if there is a question raised.
Mayor Alice Guo was cited in contempt and an arrest order was issued by the Senate. The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) was ordered to serve the arrest order to the Mayor and to 7 individuals with arrest orders within 24 hours.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo cannot be located by the authorities. Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian revealed that the law enforcers visited all the registered addresses of the suspended Mayor but they cannot locate her.
According to Sen. Gatchalian, Guo said that the authorities also visited the Mayor’s QJJ Farms in Tarlac and her garments factories in Marilao, Bulacan and Valenzuela City but she cannot be located. Based on the report, her siblings, Seimen, Sheila, and Wesley, cannot be found as well.
Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian expressed his belief that Mayor Alice Guo is now hiding. Meanwhile, he also believes that she is still in the Philippines as a hold departure order was issued against her.
