Charo Santos-Concio Reflects On Jaclyn Jose’s ‘MMK’ Legacy Following Her Passing
CHARO SANTOS-CONCIO – Former ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio recalled multi-awarded actress Jaclyn Jose’s memorable ‘MMK’ moments following her passing.
On March 4th, PPL Entertainment Incorporated announced the passing of Jaclyn Jose, also known as Mary Jane Guck, at 59 years old. In a Monday afternoon press conference, actress Andi Eigenmann confirmed Jaclyn’s passing.
Andi reflected on Jaclyn’s lasting impact, highlighting her artistic contributions, her role as a parent and grandparent, and the countless lives she touched. She emphasized that Jaclyn’s life itself was her greatest masterpiece.
Jaclyn Jose’s death was attributed to a myocardial infarction or heart attack on March 2nd, with authorities clarifying that no foul play was involved. Many celebrities, including former ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio, expressed sorrow at her sudden loss.
Charo remembered Jaclyn’s memorable performances in the drama series “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” sharing screenshots on Instagram and praising Jaclyn’s skill in portraying real-life characters.
“Remembering a bright star gone too soon I bid farewell to a remarkable soul whose exceptional talent graced the small screen in ‘MMK’ episodes I’ve had the privilege to host,” Charo said.
“Here are just a few moments that barely capture her brilliance — an actress whose performances captivated our hearts. The final photo celebrates the journey we shared. More than the accolades, it was her warmth, professionalism, and respect that truly set her apart,” she added.
Charo Santos-Concio conveyed that Jaclyn Jose’s success at the Cannes Film Festival was a moment of pride not just for the Philippines but for the entire Southeast Asia region as well.
“From stealing scenes to stealing a piece of history as the first Southeast Asian ‘Best Actress’ awardee at Cannes, her legacy transcends borders. You made us proud. Rest in peace, my dear Jane. Your memory will forever be treasured. My deepest condolences to all her loved ones.”
In December 2022, “MMK,” the longest-running drama anthology in Asia, concluded, marking the conclusion of a significant era in Philippine television that lasted 31 years.
