DOST SCHOLARSHHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES – Here is a guide on who are qualified to apply for the scholarship offers of the DOST.

Countless Filipinos graduated from college with the help of scholarship offers. Truth be told that poverty has greatly affected the studies of many Filipinos and there are scholarships that helped fund their studies in the pursuit of a good-paying career in the future. One of the scholarship providers is the Department of Science and Technology.

More popularly called DOST, the Department of Science and Technology has several scholarship offers for undergraduate studies. These scholarship offers are ready to assist poor but deserving students who want to pursue a career in Science and Technology as well as those related in Mathematics.

The Department of Science and Technology has the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program as well as scholarships under the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994 or the Republic Act No. 7687. Who are qualified to apply for the DOST scholarship for undergraduate studies?

The government office has set a list of eligibility requirements for qualification to the scholarship offers. To qualify for DOST scholarship for undergraduate studies, the student applicant must meet the following:

  • natural-born Filipino citizen
  • poor, talented and deserving student who belongs to a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators
  • graduating Grade 12 male and female students in SY 2023-2024
    • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
    • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the class based on Grade 11 ranking
  • graduate of Grade 12 before SY 2023-2024 and did not enroll in college yet
    • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
    • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class
  • graduate of high school before the K-12 Program. Must belong to the top 5% of the graduating class
  • of good moral character and in good health
  • has not earned any college units
  • do not have any post-high school vocational units
  • has not applied for a DOST-SEI scholarship before, has applied for a DOST-SEI scholarship before but did not qualify for the scholarship, or has qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award

Aside from the eligibility requirements, there are also documentary requirements for DOST scholarship application that you must prepare and submit to the government office. If you want to apply online, the portal is open starting October 17, 2023 until December 31, 2023.

DOST allows schools to file a request for inclusion in the E-Application System until December 15, 2023. The qualifying exam is set on April 6-7, 2024.
