Time Flies Definition, Sentence Examples
TIME FLIES MEANING – Find out what time flies really means. Example sentences of this idiomatic expression can also be found here.
This expression most likely first appeared as “tempus fugit” in the Latin poem “The Georgics,” which was most likely published around 29 BC. Later, the term was translated into English.
Since time does not actually fly, the expression is illogical. This expression alludes to birds’ ability to fly and how, while visible to humans one moment, they are gone the next. Similar to how time is perceived in the expression, it passes before one realizes it has. This is a typical occurrence, particularly during prosperous times.
