John Matthew Salilig’s Brother Speaks on his Painful Death
JOHN MATTHEW SALILIG’S BROTHER – John Michael Salilig who is also a member of Tau Gamma Phi fraternity revealed his side on his death.
Another frat member, John Matthew Salilig, recently died. The 3rd year chemical engineering student of Adamson University allegedly passed away after a “welcoming” rites with his brothers in the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.
John Matthew is already a member of the said fraternity in Zamboanga City. According to the authorities, around 18 people attended the said “welcoming” rites which was held in a house in Biñan, Laguna.
Based on a report on GMA News, John Matthew Salilig’s two brothers are also members of the said fraternity group. He even informed one of his brothers, John Michael, about the “welcoming” rites and he was not worried about it since he is also a member.
However, after the last message wherein he informed his brother about the welcoming rites, the Salilig family did not hear anymore from John Matthew. There was no message from him until a message from a dummy account was sent to one of his brothers.
In the said message, the family was told that the welcoming rites was conducted in a house in Biñan, Laguna and John Matthew survived the welcoming rites but when they left, he seizured. They were told that he was buried in Cavite.
Based on the report, John Michael Salilig does not generalize all the members of the fraternity but he’s in disbelief to what was done to his brother. John Matthew Salilig’s brother stressed that his brother’s death is hard to accept and painful.
“Mahirap, masakit, nakakagigil pero ‘di ko nga mina-majority… It’s not an ordinary person o students ang gagawa nyan… para maisip na gawin ang ganyan,” the grieving brother said.
The Salilig family and John Matthew’s friends are calling for justice for his death. Some of the frat members have surrendered to the authorities.
