John Matthew Salilig Case: 7 Suspects Now Detained at the PNP Facility in Laguna

Update on John Matthew Salilig Death Case

JOHN MATTHEW SALILIG – The authorities said that seven (7) suspects in the death of the Adamson University student are now detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Facility in Laguna.

The death of John Matthew Salilig, a 3rd year chemical engineering student of Adamson University, left countless hearts broken and gained different reactions from many people. His body was recently found in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite.

Allegedly, the body of John Matthew was left by his fellow frat members in the said grave after he died following a “welcoming” rites that was held in Biñan, Laguna. He’s already a member of Tau Gamma Phi in Zamboanga City and his brother, John Michael who is also a frat member, was informed about the welcoming rites. He was the last person contacted by John Matthew before the incident.

According to one of the frat members. John Matthew survived the welcoming rites but he had a seizure on their way back to Manila. He allegedly died in the car and, amid different suggestions on what to do, his body was left in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite in the wee hours of the day.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, seven (7) suspects in the case of John Matthew Salilig is now detained in PNP Custodial Facility in Biñan, Laguna. Six of them were initially invited by the authorities as persons of interest in the case.

One of the seven (7) people who are now detained is the father of one of the frat members. Based on the report, he is detained by the authorities due to obstruction of justice when he attempted to stop the police operation in their house amid the presence of a search warrant.

However, one of the frat members who claimed that he was also a victim during the “welcoming” rites reached out to the authorities and named the suspects. According to the victim, he could not walk for more than a week after what happened.

The suspects in the death case of John Matthew Salilig refused to give a statement. More updates may be posted soon.
