AiAi delas Alas: “At least sa Amerika, kaya niya akong buhayin nang kumportable”
AIAI DELAS ALAS – The actress-comedienne recently revealed the reason why she and her husband Gerald Sibayan decided to migrate to the United States.
AiAi appeared on Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”.
The actress-comedienne, who is a green card holder since 2015, shared on Friday that they decided to migrate to the United States because she has already petitioned her husband.
She said that her husband didn’t want to be petitioned at first, but a lockdown was declared in the Philippines right after he graduated at that time.
“So pumayag na siyang i-petition ko siya. Kasi sa totoo lang din, dito naman, hindi niya ko kayang buhayin,” she said in an interview with Boy Abunda. “At least sa Amerika, kaya niya akong buhayin kasi mas mataas yung sweldo niya sakin and buhayin, as in, … kumportable.“
The actress-comedienne also works as an activity director at a facility for the elderly in San Francisco, California, which she likes because she’s able to compensate for her shortcomings with her biological and adoptive parents.
Aside from this, she also talked about her absence when her adoptive mom passed away. She shared that they were even able to say exchange “I love you’s” at that time.
“Sobra kaming nagmahalan. Tapos lumipad ako. Paglipad ko, namatay na siya kinabukasan. Parang inintay niya lang ako,” AiAi said. “Kaya siguro ayaw niya nandito ako kasi alam niya, sobra akong iiyak.“

In the same interview, she apologized to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte after she was declared “persona non grata” for supposedly “disrespecting” the official seal of the city in a social media video.
According to her, she didn’t intend to hurt anyone. She also said that she did her best to keep the video non-offensive, adding that she was only playing the role of an artist at that time.
