Former VP Leni Robredo: “Arrived Manila with the sad news of FVR’s passing.”
LENI ROBREDO — The former Vice President recently paid tribute to former President Fidel Ramos, who died on Sunday at the age of 94.
In her tribute post, she said that her family mourned FVR’s death and also remembered remembers what his presidency meant in the post-dictatorship presidency.
On Facebook, Robredo shared her previous post wherein she shared a photo with FVR and her late husband, former DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.

According to her, her late husband was a “strong supporter” of former President Fidel Ramos. She also shared that Jesse became the President of the League of Cities during FVR’s term.
“Jesse, who was then Mayor of Naga, was his strong supporter. In fact, he became President of the League of Cities during FVR’s incumbency,” she said. “More than this, he became a personal friend. Jesse was baptismal godfather to Patrick (Cristy and Freddie’s son), his grandson. I was also Patrick’s wedding godmother.“
Robredo also shared that she was able to visit FVR “a number of times” during the 2016 election and during her term as Vice President of the Philippines.
She added that FVR was vocal with his support all the time. According to her, she received a video of FVR pledging his support for her during the last election.
Aside from her, former President Rodrigo Duterte also expressed his sadness as he mourned the death of former President Fidel Ramos. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, he said that he’s one with FVR’s wife, family, friends, and the entire Filipinos in mourning his death.
