DOH: “We will propose to the Office of the President that our fully vaccinated definition be refined, that we will now include the first booster shot”
DOH — On Wednesday, the Department of Health said that it will revive the proposal to the Marcos administration to redefine of the term “fully vaccinated” to include those who have received their 1st COVID-19 booster dose.
To recall, it was Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion who suggested the redefinition of what a “fully vaccinated” person is, noting the low COVID-19 booster uptake in the Philippines.
DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview with ANC that the Department of Health had already proposed such a plan to the Duterte administration.
However, she said that the proposal was put on hold in order to prioritize the reopening of the economy badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
“So we are now again proposing to the Office of the President…we will propose to the Office of the President that our fully vaccinated definition be refined, that we will now include the first booster shot,” Vergeire said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has consistently reminded the public to get their booster dose as additional protection against the coronavirus disease.

The Department of Health also launched its “PinasLakas” campaign with a goal to boost 23.8 million Filipinos (50% of the eligible population) within the first 100 days of the current administration.
Also, the “PinasLakas” campaign aims to inoculate 90 percent of the target senior citizens within the same period.
Citing DOH’s latest data, GMA News Online reported that 16.6 million Filipinos have now received their booster doses, while 71.9 million are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.
