Cherie Gil’s family: “It was her (Cherie Gil) request that her diagnosis be kept private”
CHERIE GIL — The family of the late veteran actress said that she chose to keep her illness from the public.
Cherie’s family recently confirmed that the actress died due to cancer. According to the family, it was Cherie’s request to keep her diagnosis from the public.
In a statement released on Instagram last August 7, Cherie’s children Raphael and Bianca Rogoff expressed their family’s gratitude to those who extended their love and concern for their mother.
“It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce that Cherie passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 5th, at 4:48 a.m. EST after a brave battle against cancer,” the statement reads.
According to the statement, Cherie was diagnosed with “a rare form of endometrial cancer” last October 2021 and underwent treatment at a hospital in New York after deciding to relocate to the United States in order to be closer to her kids.

The family also disclosed that Cherie had her loved ones beside her during her final days and she bravely fought the illness with “grace and strength”.
Also, Cherie’s family said that the veteran actress managed to exude courage and “never lost her trademark sass, wit, and infectious humor, or her larger-than-life personality” despite her struggles.
Cherie Gil’s family then asked her supporters to share their memories of her, which will view in their own time privately “in the spirit of her original wishes”.
The death of the late veteran actress was first revealed to the public by talent manager Annabelle Rama, who only asked for prayers and chose not to reveal the cause of death at that time.
