Ronnie Liang Promoted To First Lieutenant in Philippine Army

RONNIE LIANG — The singer has been promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant in the Philippine Army.

The Philippine Army said in a statement on Friday that its chief, Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon donned the ranks to the four in short ceremonies held on Wednesday.

Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) executive director Undersecretary Jose Joel Sy-Egco was commissioned as Major (Res).

Joining him were Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Director III Tecson John S. Lim, who is now a Lieutenant Colonel (Res), Antipolo City Prosecutor Mari Elvira B. Herrera, who is now also a Lieutenant Colonel (Res), and Ronnie Liang who was commissioned as a First Lieutenant (Res).

Brawner reminded the reserve officers to uphold their commitment to the organization, to the Filipino people, and to the country.

May the ranks that you now bear on your chest inspire you to exemplify the Army’s core values of honor, patriotism, and duty,” Brawner said.

On Thursday, Ronnie proudly shared on Instagram a video of his promotion ceremony and also shared several photos showing his new uniform.

In the caption, Ronnie said that it is his duty as a citizen to love and serve the country, to help the countrymen, with the best of one’s ability, and to promote volunteerism, service, and peace.

Other celebrities who have become reservists are Dingdong Dantes (Navy), Rocco Nacino (Navy), and Geneva Cruz (Air Force).
