COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez: “Before the week ends, we will release a final report on that”
COMMISSION ON ELECTIONS — COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said that the poll body will release this week the final report on the alleged hacking of their servers.
In an interview on Teleradyo last Tuesday, January 11, Jimenez said that the validation on the alleged hacking of their servers was still ongoing.
“Before the week ends we will release a final report on that because the meeting with all our different units will only start this morning,” Jimenez said. “We want to know if there really is a data breach. We don’t see any evidence of data breach.”
On Monday, Jimenez said that they’re already validating the allegations of the article published by the Manila Bulletin, specifically whether COMELEC systems have been compromised.
COMELEC’s statement came after Manila Bulletin published an article revealing that a group of hackers was allegedly able to “breach the servers of the Comelec” and “downloaded more than 60 gigabytes of data that could possibly affect the May 2022 elections”.

Meanwhile, Malacañang admitted on Tuesday that it was “concerned” by the reported hacking of the COMELEC servers just a few months ahead of the May 2022 elections.
When asked about the alleged hacking of COMELEC servers, Cabinet Secretary and acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in a Presidential press briefing that the Palace will await any update to be pronounced by the poll body regarding the incident.
“Siyempre nababahala rin kami, obviously we are also worried ‘no about this kung totoo man ito. So antabayanan na lang siguro natin, hintayin natin na magpalabas ng official statement ang Comelec tungkol sa report na ito,” Nograles said.
