The PNP was ready in case of ECQ extension in Metro Manila, according to Eleazar.
PNP chief Gen Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said that the Philippine National Police was ready in case of ECQ extension in Metro Manila.
On Wednesday, Eleazar said that the Philippine National Police was prepared should the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila be extended.
According to Eleazar, Metro Manila mayors and the Inter-Agency Task Force were in the better position to decide on whether or not the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila would be extended.
Eleazar also reminded police commanders to ensure the safety and welfare of police personnel, who should observe minimum public health standards such as wearing of face shields and face masks.

The Department of Health on Tuesday said that the enhanced community quarantine currently in effect in Metro Manila may be extended due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the matter will still be discussed by the IATF.
In an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita, Vergeire said that there’s always that possibility because based on their projections, the number of coronavirus cases in Metro Manila will continue to increase even if NCR has two weeks of ECQ.
According to Vergeire, they needed to intensify their response to minimize economic burden adding that they’re expanding the bed capacity of hospitals in order to accommodate more COVID-19 patients.
The National Capital Region (NCR) was placed under enhanced community quarantine last August 6 and will last up to the 20th of August in light of the threat of the Delta COVID-19 variant in the Philippines.
