PLDT was aiming to reach 1M new fiber customers in 2021.
PLDT was optimistic about reaching one million new Fiber customers in 2021 as the company already hit half of the number in the first half of the year.
PLDT said in a statement that the company recorded 478,000 new Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) customers in the first half of this year amidst PLDT’s accelerated fiber installation efforts. By yearend, PLDT Home hoped to cover 66% of the Philippines with fiber.
According to PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, PLDT was committed to delivering better services, especially when the pandemic forced people to heavily rely on digital services.
Pangilinan also said that they must stay keenly focused on serving their customers and simply being a source of strength amid extraordinary affliction and adversity, especially during the crisis.

Gizguide reported that PLDT’s fiber revenues jumped by PHP 6 billion to PHP 14.1 billion in the first semester as the company ramped up fiber installation capacity and copper migration. Also, PLDT’s total home business increased by PHP 4.2 billion to PHP 22.7 billion.
PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio said that they’ll continue to ramp up their capacity to install as demand remained high.
According to Panlilio, they saw the change in customer behavior because of the pandemic, and a lot of their mobile customers who were currently staying at home were utilizing their fiber-line connectivity.
“I think this will be the case for most Filipinos as this crisis continues for the rest of the year and until vaccination has been fully implemented,” said Panlilio.
