The DOH investigated the breach in COVID-19 vaccination protocol in Makati City
On Monday, the Department of Health (DOH) said that it was investigating a breach in COVID-19 vaccination protocol in Makati City that was caught on a viral video.
On the viral vaccination video circulating on social media, a woman was injected by a nurse at a vaccination site in Makati City, but the nurse forgot to push the content of the syringe into her arm.
“This is a clear breach of vaccination protocol,” the Department of Health said in a statement, adding that it will coordinate with the concerned local government in its investigation.
However, the agency assured the public that the recipient who took the viral vaccination video was “successfully vaccinated” after showing the footage to the vaccination team.
“Sinisigurado po namin na ating iimbestigahan ang pangyayaring ito upang mapabuti ang ating national vaccination program,” DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said.
The Department of Health also said that immediate improvements in the COVID-19 vaccination protocol shall be made “to ensure we limit the chances of this from happening again.”
The country’s COVID-19 vaccination program had repeatedly stirred controversy, from President Rodrigo Duterte’s admission that soldiers received an unauthorized COVID-19 vaccine in 2020 to some government officials jumping the line in the first week of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
